The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, established at the inception of St.Xavier’s Catholic College of Engineering in 1998, has consistently contributed to high-quality teaching and learning. The department offers a Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) program in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and a Master of Engineering (M.E.) program in Power Electronics and Drives. Additionally, Anna University, Chennai has recognized it as a Research Centre offering a Ph.D. program in the Faculty of Electrical Engineering. The department has secured permanent affiliation with Anna University and is accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA), New Delhi, under Tier II status until 2025.

The curriculums of undergraduate and postgraduate programs are regularly reviewed and updated to align with global advancements in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. The department boasts a team of highly qualified faculty members with expertise across various specializations, including Power Systems, Power Electronics, Control and Instrumentation, Electrical Machines, Applied Electronics, and Embedded Systems.

The department is equipped with state-of-the-art laboratories, which includes the Electrical Machines Lab, Control and Instrumentation Lab, Power Electronics Lab, Electrical Workshop, Electric Vehicle Lab, Renewable energy Lab, Simulation Lab, Project Lab and Research Lab. It has also established a Centre of Excellence for Electric Vehicle Technology in collaboration with TVS Training and Services, Chennai.

Classrooms are outfitted with modern ICT facilities, enabling interactive and engaging learning experiences. The department’s library houses more than 1000 technical books and resources. The department’s association, Society of Electrical Engineers (SEE) organizes conferences, seminars, coaching for competitive exams workshops, and symposia, along with regular industrial, field visits and All India Tour.

Students enhance their skills through affiliations with professional bodies such as IEEE, IET, IEI, EnSav Club, FOSSEE, and IIT Bombay's Spoken Tutorial project. The department focuses on providing students with exposure to cutting-edge technologies by fostering collaborations through Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with reputed companies. Graduates from the department secure positions in renowned companies, with a significant number also continuing their studies overseas.
