ANTI RAGGING CELL

Anti ragging cell of our college is functioning with the vision of Prevention and Prohibition of Ragging and thereby, providing a good atmosphere for the healthy development of all students in our college. It has the same objective as that of AICTE to eliminate ragging. The motto of Antiragging cell is ‘Together, we feel at home’. It is mandatory to all students admitted and their parents to fill in an Anti Ragging affidavit. Patron of the cell is the Correspondent andthe cell is headed by the Principal with faculty members, representatives of students of first year and senior classes, non-teaching staff, Hostel Wardens, District Police Authorities and parents as members. With the efforts of the cell, the menace of ragging is eradicated in our campus and no cases of ragging are reported.

Minutes of Meeting

  Time: 03:00 PM

The Anti-ragging committee was conducted at St. Xavier's Catholic College of Engineering, Nagercoil at 3.00 pm on 18-03-2021 in the ECE seminar hall. As per the directions from AICTE, UCE and Anna University the Anti- Ragging cell is conducting the meeting for External members internal members.

The main objective for conducting the meeting is to create a ragging free campus so that the students can come together and develop their educational experiences without any hindrance, for the development of students in both curricular and extracurricularactivities.

The meeting was headed by the Principal Dr. J.Maheswaran and organized under the support of Dr. T.M. Chenthil Jegan, Convener/Anti ragging committee and members of anti-ragging committee for discussing the various issues to avoid ragging and make the college as the ragging free campus.

The meeting started by the welcome address by Dr. T.M. Chenthil Jegan, he welcomed all the members of the anti-ragging committee.  Our Principal Dr. J. Maheswaran, discussed about the various steps taken by the College in making the institution ragging free and makes the best possible learning environment for the students in the college.  He spells the slogan for Anti-Ragging “Together we fell at home”. Then all the members of the committee gave many suggestions for the formation of ragging free environment in the College.

The various suggestion given by the members including the students are

             New Anti-Ragging display boards are required in the students gathering areas and departments.

             During this COVID pandemic situation buses are operated with Drivers and managers. If any one staff member accompanying                                 students gives more confortable.

             Special Orientation for the students regarding ragging free campus.

             Frequent hostel visits by the squad members to monitor the students activities.

             Monitoring the students during lunch breaks and intervals

            Instructing the students about to whom to communicate in case of ragging

            The anti-ragging nodal officer cell number, principal phone number and toll free helpline No.1800 -1805522 and Email-                                                 helpline@antiragging.in is to be made visible to students.

Students were appreciated the system already followed in the Anti-Ragging Cell. Our Dean Student Affairs Dr V Christus Jeya singh shared his experience during his college day and how for the systems are constructed to avoid ragging. He also recommend, if anything happens related to ragging(teasing) you don’t hesitate and you can silently report to your coordinator/ HOD immediately.After the interaction of the members the meeting comes to an end with the formal vote of thanks by our Principal.

The Anti-ragging committee was conducted at St. Xavier's Catholic College of Engineering, Nagercoil at 3.30 pm on 26-09-2019.External members except parents and all internal members attend the meeting.

The main purpose of the meeting is to create a ragging free campus so that the students can come together and develop their educational experiences without any hindrance, for the development of students in both curricular and extracurricular activities.

The meeting was headed by the Principal Dr. J.Maheswaran and  organized under the support of Dr. T.M. Chenthil Jegan, Convenor/Anti ragging committee and members of anti-ragging committee  for discussing the various issues related to the smooth functioning among students.

The meeting started by the welcome address by Dr. J.Maheswaran, he welcomed all the members of the anti-ragging committee. He discussed about the various steps taken by the College in making the institution ragging free and make the best possible learning environment for the students in the college. Then all the members of the committee gave many suggestions for the formation of ragging free environment in the College.

                Decide to conduct an awareness program on “ Traffic Rules, Drug Abuse, Cyber Crime and Anti-ragging” for the first year                          students on 10-10-2019.

After the interaction of the members the meeting come to an end with the vote of thanks by Dr. T.M. Chenthil Jegan, Convenor/Anti ragging committee.

The Principal expressed a special thanks to Inspector of police, Eraniel, Thasidhar of Kalkulam Taluk, Revenue Inspector of Kurunthan Code, Convener of the Legal Committee for attend the meeting in-spite of their busy schedule and for giving valuable suggestions.

Awareness Program for students on Traffic rules and laws

Awareness program for students on traffic rules and lawsfor the first year students was held on 10.10.2019 at Conference hall in St. Xavier’s Catholic College of Engineering. The main objective of this programme was tomotivate the students regarding the importance of traffic rules and regulations prevention of anti-ragging avoiding drugs and cybercrime effective usage of social medias and associated laws. Mr.Arul, Training DSP -Thuckalay, Mr.RobertJain,Sub-Inspector of police-Eraniel and Mrs.N.Maheswari, Traffic Reserve Inspector-Colachel werefelicitating the gathering on the auspicious day. Dr.J. Maheswaran, the principal,warmly welcomed the gathering. Rev.Fr.Dr.M.Maria William, the Correspondent, delivered the Presidential address.Rev.Fr.M.FrancisXavier,Burser,gave the special address. Prizes were distributed for the first year students those who are excelled in the Anna university Internal examination I. Dr.T.M.ChenthilJegan,First year coordinator, gave Vote of thanks. The meeting came to an end with the National Anthem. Around 400 first year students were benefited from this program.
