Center of Excellence
“Excellence from Autodesk – AutoCAD & Fusion 360”

1. Introduction:

The Department of Mechanical Engineering has established a Center of Excellence (CoE) in collaboration with Autodesk to enhance students’ practical skills in AutoCAD and Fusion 360. This initiative supports the Mission and Program Educational Objectives (PEOs) by providing hands-on training in industry-relevant tools and design practices.

2. Objectives of the CoE:

  • To provide students with real-time training in CAD design and simulation.
  • To improve student competency in digital modeling and product development.
  • To integrate Autodesk-certified tools into the curriculum and projects.
  • To support industry-ready skills through certification and workshops.

3. Mapping with Vision, Mission & PEOs:

PEO Statement Autodesk CoE Contribution
PEO1 Understand, analyze and solve real case problems in core and allied fields -Training in AutoCAD and Fusion 360 enables students to model, simulate, and analyze real engineering problems.
- Students use Autodesk tools in design projects, enhancing problem-solving in courses like DME, CAM, and FEA.
PEO2 Adapt to careers in mechanical industries / higher studies - Autodesk certifications boost employability in design and manufacturing sectors.
- Exposure to industry-standard tools aligns with career roles like CAD Engineer, Design Analyst, etc.
- Placement in companies like Pinnacle InfoTech etc.
PEO3 Contribute to R&D and technological development - Fusion 360 supports design iteration, simulation, and prototyping which are crucial for research projects.
- Students use tools in final year projects, innovation challenges, and technical paper writing.
- R&D outcomes from Autodesk-based designs are used in doing Projects.

4. Activities under the CoE:

  • Workshops and certification courses on AutoCAD and Fusion 360
  • Project-based learning using Autodesk software
  • Participation in Autodesk Design Challenges
  • Placement in final semesters
