Central Library

The Central Library of the college has kept pace with emerging challenges, perhaps one of the best technical libraries in the region. The state-of-the-art library stretches over 18,000 square meters and has in its collection more than 30,535 volumes with 9,328 titles on Engineering, Management and Humanities. It subscribes to 110 technical journals, 3,169 online journals, 13,169 E-Books and 19 online databases. It can accommodate 200 students at a time. Documents in the Library are classified under Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) system. The library has membership with DELNET Consortium, Anna University E-Resource Consortium (AUERC), and N-LIST. It is Wi-Fi enabled and equipped with CCTV surveillance.

Lending

The library provides lending services to faculty (6 Library Cards) and students (UG - 3 Cards, PG/Research Scholars - 4 Cards). All books are barcoded, and barcode scanners are used for issue/return. Barcoded ID cards are issued to all members. Students can borrow books for 15 days; faculty can borrow six books for a semester or three months. Overdue returns incur a fine. A No Dues Certificate is required at course/service end.

Renewals

Books may be renewed once for two weeks if there is no other demand.

Readers may approach the Reference Desk for help in using reference sources.

Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC)

The entire collection is searchable through the web-enabled OPAC. Search by Author, Title, or Keyword. Accessible through the intranet campus-wide.

Online Access Service

The library has access to IEEE (ieeexplore.ieee.org), Elsevier (sciencedirect.com), Springer (springerlink.com), Cambridge University Press, Wiley, and NPTEL videos (intranet access). Access is IP-based with remote access also available. Central Library has access to over 16,140 online journals.

CD/DVD ROM Service

Users can browse subject-related CDs/DVDs with abstracts, bibliographic info, conference proceedings, reviews, and more—helpful for quick literature surveys.

Question Paper Service

Bound volumes of past university exam question papers are available for reference.

Bulletin Board Service

Provides updates about library services, facilities, current events, employment news, and placement-related information.

New Arrivals

Newly acquired books are displayed on the New Arrival Rack at the entrance.

Photocopy Service

Photocopy facility is available inside the library for members.

N-LIST

National Library and Information Services Infrastructure for Scholarly Content (N-LIST): https://ndl.iitkgp.ac.in
It provides access to e-resources to students, researchers, and faculty from colleges. Our college is eligible for 6,150 e-journals and over 31 lakh e-books under e-Shodh Sindhu.

AUERC

WebOPAC provides bibliographic details of the library holdings including books.
Steps:
• Go to Intranet → Click OPAC
• Select search fields and database
• Type minimum 3 characters and click Go
