The Youth Red Cross is the most important constituent of its mother organization, Indian Red Cross. It is a group movement organized for students in Colleges and Technical institutions.

Installation

Youth Red Cross Inauguration was held on 29nd August 2024. The Inauguration ceremony started with a prayer song by St.Xavier’s Choir and followed by a welcoming dance Fine Arts Club. The dignitaries on the dais inaugurated the ceremony by lighting the lamp. The gathering was welcomed by Ms, S. Jeslin Raj, Radio Club. Our Correspondent Rev. Fr. S. Godwin Selva Justus presided over the function, he shared his ideas and explained the difference between the Professional and the Non-Professional cells. Our Principal Dr. J. Maheswaran gave the introductory talk and highlighted the importance of Non-Professional cells. Vice Principal Dr. V. Christus Jeya Singh shared the regulations of Non-Professional Cell and asked the students to follow it. The YRC faculty advisor Dr. N. Sheen Kumar introduced the Office bearers of the YRC for the academic year 2024-2025 and continued by the photo session. The programme came to an end with the vote of thanks by Mr. G. Viladimir Rixson, student of ECO Club, followed by College Anthem.

Independence Day Celebrations

The 78th Independence Day was celebrated in our college premises on 15th August, 2024. The celebration started with March Past by NCC students. Our Correspondent Rev. Fr. S. Godwin Selva Justus hoisted the National Flag and followed by Pledge, Flag Song and Preamble of the Constitution. The special program then started with Welcome Address by Constitution club. The event was presided over by our correspondent Rev. Fr. S. Godwin Selva Justus. In his speech, he highlighted the importance of constitution and its unique features. Our Principal Dr. J. Maheswaran and Vice-Principal Dr. V. Christus Jayasingh felicitated the gathering. The vote of Thanks was proposed by YRC volunteer S. P. Kethzia Third year CSE B. Students entertained the gathering with a patriotic song, poetry and dance. The programme ended with National Anthem. Sweets were distributed among the participants. This program was organized by YRC, NCC, NSS, Sports club and the Constitution club.

Blood Donation Camp

On September 25, 2024, the YRC, NSS, and NCC organised a blood donation camp at SXCCE in collaboration with the Gov. Medical College Hospital, Asaripallam to create awareness about blood donation and the significance of knowing the importance of human life. The inauguration ceremony began with a prayer hymn. Dr. N. Sheen Kumar, YRC Coordinator, welcomed the gathering. The event was presided over by the correspondent, Rev. Fr. S. Godwin Selva Justus. The keynote guest, Dr. Rakesh, M.D., Blood bank medical officer, Kanyakumari Medical College Hospital, Asaripallam, addressed the audience about the importance of blood donation. The Principal, Dr. J. Maheswaran, and Vice-Principal, Dr. Christus Jaya Singh, congratulated the attendees. Ms. S. P. Kethzia/CSE, a YRC volunteer, proposed the vote of thanks. 175 students attended and registered for the camp, while 100 donated blood to the Kanyakumari Medical College Blood Bank. The Certificates were distributed to students those who donated the blood. The program finished with the National Anthem.

Teen Marriage and Pregnancy Awareness Programme

On November 8, 2024, the YRC hosted a Seminar at SXCCE in association with the Kanya Kumari district's Department of Family Welfare. They held an awareness lecture on the prevention of teen marriage and pregnancy to raise awareness among students and the general public. The inauguration ceremony started with a Tamil Thai greeting song. Mr. A. C. Ramesh, District Extension Educator, welcomed the attendees. The occasion was presided over by the correspondent, Rev. Fr. S. Godwin Selva Justus. The keynote speakers were Mr. G. Ravi Kumar, Mr. Abdul Kathar, Mrs. V. Jayanthi, Mrs. K. Vijaya Meena, Mrs. M. K. Sahila Banu, and Mr. M. Franklin. The Principal, Dr. J. Maheswaran, congratulated the attendees. The Vice-Principal, Dr. Christus Jaya Singh, proposed the vote of gratitude. A total of 185 YRC students attended the seminar. The first year coordinator Dr. V. Vijimon Moni, YRC coordinator Dr. N. Sheen Kumar, and students worked effectively together to plan the event. The program concluded with the National Anthem.

Republic Day Celebrations

The 76th Republic Day was celebrated in our college premises on 26th January, 2025. The celebration started with March Past by NCC students. Our Correspondent Rev. Fr. S. In his speech, he highlighted the importance of constitution and its unique features such as Sovereign, Socialism, Secularism, Democratic and Republic enshrined in the Preamble of the constitution. Our Principal Dr. J. Maheswaran and Vice-Principal Dr. V. Christus Jayasingh felicitated the gathering. The vote of Thanks was proposed by NCC volunteer. Students entertained the gathering with a patriotic song, poetry and dance. The programme ended with National Anthem. Sweets were distributed among the participants.
