BLOOD DONATION CAMP (23-03-2023)

The YRC, NSS, and NCC of St. Xavier’s Catholic College of Engineering conducted a blood donation camp at the ‘ROCK AUDITORIUM’. The camp was organized by the Government Medical College Hospital, Aasaripallam. It was initiated with a prayer song by the YRC Choir. The donation process was carried out under the guidance of Dr. R. Kaveri and the team (Dr. S. Dhanaprasanth & Dr. E. Hasini). Over 70+ people participated, including around 10 NSS volunteers.

SPECIAL CAMP 2022-23 (20.02.23 to 26.02.23)

A special camp for the year 2022-23 was conducted from 20-02-2023 to 26-02-2023 in the village ‘Vavarai’, Vilanvancode Taluk, Kanyakumari District. Around 100 NSS volunteers attended and performed NSS activities. Our Principal Dr. J. Maheshwaran inaugurated this programme. The NSS Volunteers actively participated in all the events individually and also as a group, thus improving their social and cultural skills.

DATA COLLECTION WORK BY OUR NSS VOLUNTEERS IN PECHIPARAI AREA (20/02/2023 to 24/02/2023)

Data Collection work by our NSS volunteers from 20/02/2023 (Monday) to 24/02/2023 (Thursday) for the development of the Kani Tribal Community in six villages (Thottamalai, Thachamalai, Puravilai, Vilusarimalai, Maramalai, Ettamkuntu) in Pechiparai area, Thiruvattar block, Kanyakumari District. This was conducted in association with the Association for Women's Education and Development, a non-profitable organization supported by Linsi Foundation, Switzerland, focusing on promoting education, livelihood, health, and sanitation for the Tribal Community.

NSS Events Conducted during 2022-2023 (ODD)

1. மீண்டெழும் குமரி இயக்கம் ஐம்பெரும் விழா (26/01/2023 to 28/01/2023)

The three days event called "மீண்டெழும் குமரி இயக்கம் ஐம்பெரும் விழா" was conducted on the premises of St. Xavier's Catholic College of Engineering from 26/01/2023 to 28/01/2023. The event showcased the pronounced cultural heritage of our Kanyakumari district. In this event, the NSS volunteers of St. Xavier's Catholic College of Engineering involved themselves in organizing the event smoothly and properly. The volunteers extended their work in guiding the people to stalls, organizing the parking of vehicles, organizing the events taking place in the auditorium and in the outdoors, arranging refreshments for the event guests and more. The three days were successfully organized and the volunteers had done the most they could and made the event a successful one.

2. Emergency Blood Donation

Few NSS volunteers and SXCCE Faculties donated blood to needy people during September and December.

3. Orientation Programme to School students – Govt. Model HSSS, Thucklay (06-01-2023)

The NSS units of St Xavier’s Catholic College of Engineering have organized an Online Services Guidance orientation program for the school students of Government Model Higher Secondary School, Thuckalay on 6th Jan 2023. Our NSS volunteers actively participated and guided the school students.

4. FIT INDIA 3.0 (12-11-2022)

The NSS units I and II of St Xavier’s Catholic College of Engineering conducted a programme on the theme Fit India 3.0 on 12th November 2022. Around 49 NSS Volunteers of our NSS units actively participated in the event. The mission of the programme is to create awareness to bring out behavioral changes and move towards a more physically active lifestyle.

A drawing competition was conducted on the theme Fit India to enhance creativity and thoughts about fitness among students. One of the volunteers of our NSS units presented a seminar on the topic “Fit India”, with the view to making fitness an integral part of our daily lives.

5. SWACHH BHARAT - CLEAN INDIA 2.0 (31/10/2022)

The NSS units (Unit-I 1383 and Unit-II 1384) of St Xavier’s Catholic College of Engineering in association with NSS Units of St Lawrence Higher Secondary School, Madathattuvilai, Yettacode Higher Secondary School, Yettacode and Villukuri Town Panchayat has organized Clean India Mission 2.0 at Villukuri Town Panchayat Surroundings. Around 104 NSS volunteers of St Xavier’s Catholic College of Engineering, St Lawrence Higher Secondary School and Yettacode Higher Secondary School and 4 Programme Officers actively participated in the event. The volunteers actively participated in the fieldwork areas shown by the local Town Panchayat, Villukuri. The volunteers cleaned all possible Non-bio degradable wastes in the surrounding areas and collected around 400 kg of Plastic waste and handed them over to the local Town Panchayat, Villukuri. The Panchayat officers of Villukuri attended the campaign and appreciated our college NSS students with an appreciation certificate.

6. Awareness Seminar on “Scientific Temper” (29/10/2022)

The NSS units of St Xavier’s Catholic College of Engineering have organized an awareness program for young volunteers on 29th Oct 2022. About 67 NSS volunteers actively participated in the seminar topic “Scientific Temper”. The chief guest of the day was Mr. Sasikumar (state executive member of the Tamil Nadu science forum). The aim of the seminar is to inculcate scientific thinking, appreciate scientific development and drive away superstitions.

7. INAUGURATION OF NON-PROFESSIONAL CELLS (24/09/2022)

The formal inauguration of the Non-professional cells of our Institution for the academic year 2022-23 was held on 24th September 2022. The Chief Guest was Mr. Aspren, Secretary of the Alumni Association. The Vice Principal and the Coordinator of Non-professional cells Dr. J. Christus Jeyasingh gave the introductory talk. Our Programme Officer Mr. L. G. X. Agnel Livingston introduced the office bearers of NSS for the academic year 2022-2023. The Principal Dr. J. Maheshwaran felicitated the gathering. The Correspondent Rev. Fr. Dr. M. Maria William inaugurated the function with his presidential address. The program came to an end with the national anthem.

8. ORIENTATION CAMP FOR LINKING VOTER ID WITH AADHAAR (07/09/2022)

An Orientation camp was arranged for students towards linking Aadhaar number with voter ID and was held on 07.09.2022, in association with the District Authorities of Kanyakumari District. This programme was arranged for second-year and third-year students. The Tahsildar gave instructions regarding linking voter id with Aadhaar using the smart and the students who have the voter id followed the steps and linked their voter id with Aadhaar. Around 700 students attended the orientation camp and got benefitted.
