Health Care and Hygienic

As part of our Student Induction Program (SIP) based on Universal Human Values (UHV), sessions were conducted from 7/11/2022 to 17/11/2022. During the programme, the Health Care Cell arranged a Health and Hygienic session led by Mrs. Vinitha Sterlin and Mrs. A. Amalit Vimal, professors from St. Xavier’s Catholic College of Nursing. Around 500 students participated and benefited through the programme.

Mental and Emotional Well-being

As part of the same SIP programme, Mental and Emotional Well-being sessions were also arranged by the Health Care Cell. These were conducted by Prof. Rajeshwari, Prof. Ida Divya Sherly, Dr. T. Arul Valan, and Prof. Beula from Dr. Kumaraswamy Health Centre and College of Nursing, Kanyakumari. Approximately 500 students participated and benefited.

Sports Day First-Aid

A team of 15 students and 7 staff members from our Health Care Cell provided first aid to students in need during the Sports Day event.

Food Festival First-Aid

Date: 26/01/2023 to 28/01/2023
Venue: St. Xavier’s Catholic College of Engineering
During the Food Festival, a team of 15 students, 4 staff members, and 1 Nurse from St. Xavier’s Catholic College of Nursing provided first-aid medical support to participants. The presence of the nurse was extremely helpful during the three-day event.

Health Awareness Program & Medical Camp

The Health Awareness Program along with a Medical Camp was conducted on 18-05-2022 in the Rock Auditorium by a team of three doctors and eight supporting staff members. This program was organized by the Health Care Cell. Around 200 students of BE ECE, CSE, Civil, and IT attended the meeting along with staff members.

The meeting began with a prayer song, and the welcome address was delivered by Dr. S. V. Kayalvizhi. The Principal, Dr. M. Maheswaran, addressed the gathering and shared health care tips, emphasizing the importance of proper diet and sleep.

Dr. Mathan, MBBS, MD, FICM explained first aid methods for emergency situations. Dr. Narasimman, MBBS, MD(RD), FIVR discussed the symptoms and causes of stroke. Dr. Mathumitha, MBBS, MD, DNB gave a talk on adolescent health issues and how to manage them effectively.

A health-related quiz was conducted by the doctors, and prizes contributed by the PTA Executive Committee were awarded to the students who performed well. The session concluded at 12:45 p.m. with a vote of thanks by Ms. S. A. Anuja, Convener of the Health Care Cell.

Following the awareness program, a Medical Camp was held for students and staff members of SXCCE. Around 58 participants benefited from the camp.

COVID-19 Vaccination Camp

As directed by the Government of India, a COVID-19 Vaccination Camp was conducted on 30-08-2021 at our college campus. The camp was supported by St. Xavier’s Catholic College of Nursing.

Faculty, students, and people from nearby villages received their vaccination doses during this event. A total of 110 individuals were vaccinated.

Adolescent Health – Awareness Program

Our college nurse, Mrs. Nesa Hilda, conducted an awareness program on Adolescent Health for first-year students. This session took place from 08/11/2021 to 19/11/2021 as part of the Induction Program.

Mental and Emotional Well-being

In collaboration with the Health Care Cell, professors from Dr. Kumaraswamy Health Centre and College of Nursing, Kanyakumari, visited our campus on 11/11/2021 and 16/11/2021. They provided awareness and enacted first aid demonstrations for first-year students. Approximately 450 students benefited from these sessions.

COVID-19 Preventive Measures

As directed by the Government of India, COVID-19 preventive measures were strictly implemented by our college through the Health Care Cell. Posters and pamphlets were distributed across the campus to spread awareness.

Health Care Cell staff members ensured that students wear masks and maintain social distancing inside the campus at all times.

Webinar – Save the Youth Against the Menace of Tobacco

Around 10 staff members and 15 students from various departments attended a national webinar titled “Save the Youth Against the Menace of Tobacco”, conducted by KIET Group of Institutions, Delhi-NCR.

Participants received certificates for their involvement. The webinar aimed to spread awareness about the dangers of tobacco use among students and educators. It was organized in association with ICanCare as a national initiative for educational institutions.
