Cadet Welfare Society Scholarship 2024-2025

Every year, Cadet Welfare Society awards scholarships to NCC cadets for their excellence in academics and NCC activities. This year, three of our cadets, CUO Sherjin Sam S, Sgt Rayesmi G J, and Cpl Reshma Ramesh R, received the scholarship for their outstanding performance. Each cadet received an amount of Rs 6000, totaling Rs 18,000.

Tamil Nadu Government Scholarship 2024-2025

Three of our cadets, SUO Tony Mathew R, CUO Sherjin Sam S and CUO Reshma R got the Tamil Nadu Government scholarship for outstanding NCC cadets. Each cadet got an amount of Rs 5000 totaling Rs 15,000. Cadets were appreciated by Col CP Unnikrishnan, Officer Commanding, 11 (TN) BN NCC, Nagercoil.

NCC DAY CELEBRATION - 2025

NCC Day was celebrated on 04-04-2025 in our college. Cadet Under Officer R. Reshma welcomed the gathering. Correspondent Rev Fr S Godwin Selva Justus presided over the function. Principal Dr. J. Maheshwaran gave a special address. Col C P Unnikrishnan was the Chief Guest. ANO Maj. S.Edwin Gladson presented the report of NCC activities for the academic year 2024-2025. Hav Vishnu from 11 (TN) BN NCC, CUO S Sherjin Sam, CUO Abishek and SUO R Tony Mathew coordinated the programs.

Seminar on ‘World Water Day’

World Water Day was celebrated on 22-03-2025. The theme was ‘Glacier Preservation’. Maj S Edwin Gladson, ANO, briefed cadets. Dr. A. M. Alice Margret, Assistant Professor in Chemistry, delivered the lecture.

All India Thal Sainik Camp

Cadet Sobin R L represented TN, Pondicherry & AN directorate at the All India Thal Sainik Camp in Delhi from 02-09-2024 to 13-09-2024. He was the only cadet from our district. He was appreciated and awarded Rs 1000 by Col C P Unnikrishnan. Our management and staff recognized his achievement.

Idea / Innovation Competition

Three teams participated in the battalion-level competition on 29-10-2024. Cpl Arnold’s team advanced to IUC and presented at NTA, Madurai on 13-11-2024. He further presented in the Inter Group category at Madras Medical College on 20-11-2024.

Cadet in Defence

Cadet Mugesh M J (II IT) was selected in the Indian Army Agniveer Recruitment Rally at Thoothukudi. He began training on 07-10-2024 at Bombay Engineering Group (BEG) Training Centre, Pune, Maharashtra.

Advanced Leadership Camp

Cadets Aju N J Blessing, Stephen Raj J and John Jins J attended the Advanced Leadership Camp at NIT Karnataka, Surathkal from 9-12-2024 to 20-12-2024. They qualified via Basic Leadership Course at Bannari Amman Institute. L/Cpl Stephen Raj J won second prize in Public Speaking.

Army Attachment Camp

Army Attachment Camp was conducted at Madras Regimental Centre, Wellington from 27 Jan to 09 Feb 2025. Our cadets L/Cpl Ashmi S and Emi Jerusha D along with three more cadets from 11 (TN) BN NCC attended this camp. In the camp they went for a trek and also visited MRC museum.

Annual Training Camps

Annual Training Camp was conducted at NVKS H S School, Atoor, from 1-5-2024 to 10-5-2024. From our college 15 SD and 10 SW cadets participated in this camp. Our cadets Sgt Reshma and Cdt Sobin got selected to attend the TSC IUC camp at NTA Idayapatti from 15-5-24 to 24-5-24. Cadet Heleena John got first prize in Solo dance competition and L/Cpl Ruthraji got second prize in Solo song competition. Our cadets also participated in Volley ball and Kho Kho competitions and got prizes.

Annual Training Camp

The Annual Training Camp at Rohini College of Engineering & Technology started on 1 Aug 2024 with the total strength of 500 cadets which includes 30 SD and 12 SW cadets from our college. Col Amit Gupta, Group Commander, Madurai Group, visited the camp on 7-8-2024. CUO Shergin Sam (our cadet) was the Guard commander. Five cadets among the eight guard cadets are from our college. A Drug awareness rally was conducted during the camp to Vattakottai on 9-8-2024. Swatch Bharat Abhiyan was also conducted at Vattakottai Fort on the same day. Closing Address was delivered by Camp Comdt Col C P Unni Krishnan. Our ANO Maj S Edwin Gladson was the Camp Adjutant. Cadet Jebin T got first prize in Solo song competition. Our SW cadets also participated Kho Kho competition and got prizes.

Trekking

Trekking is a part of NCC training which teaches oneself how to appreciate the beauty of nature, how to get adjusted with the situation and the importance of planning. A trekking program was conducted for the NCC cadets on 04-01-2025 at Keeriparai. Eighty one cadets participated in the program and they were accompanied by the ANO and Sub Sivanesan of 11 (TN) BN, NCC. Cadets started to Keeriparai by college bus at 8.00 am from college. After travelling for about an hour they reached Kalikesam Eco camp, Keeriparai. Mr Stalin, Ranger, Kalikesam Eco Camp, received and distributed pamphlets explaining the trek route and flora & fauna of that region.

Awareness Rally on Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking

An awareness rally on ‘Drug abuse and Illicit trafficking’ was organized by 11 (TN) BN NCC, Nagercoil on 28-02-2025. Cadets from Pioneer Kumaraswamy College, Scott Christian College and St Xavier’s Catholic College of Engineering with the strength of 160 including 70 SW cadets participated in this rally. Under the guidance of Col C P Unnikrishnan, Officer Commanding, 11 (TN) BN NCC, Nagercoil, the arrangements were done by the ANOs of these colleges. The rally was flagged off by Dr C Jayasekaran, Principal, Pioneer Kumaraswamy College in the presence of Lt Col Sujith S Unni, Adm Officer and Sub Maj Bhamar Singh SM, 11 (TN) BN NCC, Nagercoil. Dr G Rexin Thusnavis, Vice Principal, PKC, Maj S Edwin Gladson, ANO, St Xavier’s Catholic College of Engineering, Lt Ben, ANO Scott Christian College, Lt Radhika, ANO, Pioneer Kumaraswamy College, Sub Bhasa, Hav Ramesh and Hav Vishnu were also present. Rally started from Pioneer Kumaraswamy College at about 3.00 pm, passed through Parvathipuram junction and reached Scott Christian College. Flyers narrating the harms of drugs and benefits of avoiding drugs were distributed to the public.

World Environment Day

In view of World Environment Day – 2024 an awareness program was conducted to the cadets on 5-6-2024. The theme of WED – 2024 is ‘Land restoration, desertification and drought resilience’. Cadets took pledge to nurture nature so that our forests grow denser, air gets purer and oceans teem with life. Twenty one cadets and the ANO participated in this program.

Blood Donation

In order to encourage our students to donate blood, a blood donation camp was conducted on 25-09-2024 at Rock Auditorium. Dr Rakesh, Medical Officer, Blood Bank, Kanya Kumari Medical College Hospital, Nagercoil, explained the conditions required for donating blood and the need of blood donation. One hundred students including fifteen NCC cadets, donated blood. Our Correspondent Rev.Fr. Godwin Selva Justus and our Principal Dr.J.Maheswaran were present during the camp. Arrangements were done by YRC, NCC and NSS units of our college.

As per the direction of NCC unit, Swachh Bharath Diwas was celebrated on 1-10-24. The theme of SHS – 2024 is Swachhata Ki Bhagidaari which is incorporated with social service activities from 15-9-24 to 2-10-24. Cadets took a cleanliness drive in the college premises and also in Indra Nagar. Thirty cadets participated in the program.

Awareness Program on Crime Against Women and Children

In order to create a society with social harmony, an awareness program on ‘Crime against women and children’ was conducted by Kanya Kumari District Police on 19-11-2024 at Einstein Hall, SXCCE. Nearly 150 students including 32 NCC cadets participated in this program. After the meeting, a rally was conducted from Palpannai junction to Collector office. During the rally, students shouted slogans and created awareness on the need for women and child protection among the public.

Pongal Celebration

Pongal is a multi-day festival celebrated by all people in South India. On 14-01-2025, twelve cadets and the ANO participated in the Pongal celebrations at Ambedkar colony and conducted sports for the children there. Cadets got a chance to mingle with the villagers and acquired social awareness. Our Principal Dr. J. Maheswaran, Bursar Rev. Fr. R. Xavier Raj, and the officials from the Ambedkar colony were present during the function. Cadets performed cultural programs and created awareness to the public.

International Yoga Day

As per the direction given by our NCC unit 11(TN) BN NCC, Nagercoil, International Yoga Day was celebrated in our college on 21st June 2024 from 7.30 am to 8.30 am. Seventy-three cadets (48 SD and 25 SW) participated in this event. As per the direction of the Ministry of Defence, the Bhuvan Yoga Mobile App was downloaded and the event details were uploaded in it.

International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking

Every year 26th June is observed as International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. This year the Government of India has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to a ‘Drug Free India’. In this regard, the Control Bureau observed Nasha Mukht Bharat Pakwada from 12th June to 26th June 2024 across the entire nation. As per the direction of NCC Gp HQ Madurai, our NCC cadets were encouraged to take an online pledge in the MyGov.in portal. Sixty-five cadets (43 SD & 22 SW) took the online pledge and received certificates.

Kargil Vijay Diwas is celebrated every year on 26th July to rekindle the pride and valour of the soldiers who took part in Operation Vijay. In connection with this, various competitions like Essay competition, Poetry competition and Poster competition were conducted for the NCC cadets. Seven cadets participated in Essay competition, seven cadets participated in Poetry competition and seventeen cadets participated in Poster competition. Prizes were distributed to the winners during the Independence Day celebrations on 15-08-2024 in our college.

Independence Day was celebrated in our college premises on 15-08-2024. Our Correspondent Rev Fr S Godwin Selva Justus hoisted the National Flag and delivered the presidential address. Our Principal Dr.J.Maheswaran gave a special address on that occasion. Earlier our NCC cadets performed March past. Camp certificates were distributed to the cadets. About forty cadets participated in this function.

Republic Day was celebrated in our college on 26-01-2025. The theme of the 76th Republic Day celebration is ‘Golden India: Heritage and Development’. Our Correspondent Rev Fr S Godwin Selva Justus unfurled the National flag and delivered the presidential address. Our Principal Dr J Maheswaran gave the Republic Day message. Vice Principal Dr V Christus Jeyasingh was also present during that occasion. During the program certificates and prizes were distributed for the deserved cadets.

World Rivers Day

World Rivers Day is a global celebration observed every year. Falling on the fourth Sunday of September, it highlights the importance of rivers. In our college the event was celebrated on 24-9-2024. Prof M Galesh, Assistant Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, SXCCE, was the resource person. He delivered the lecture on ‘World River Day’. He explained the importance of rivers and methods to preserve rivers. Eighty five cadets participated in the program.

Maj S Edwin Gladson, ANO, St. Xavier’s Catholic College of Engineering, Chunkankadai briefed the cadets about the program. Hav Ramesh of 11 TN (BN) NCC, Nagercoil was also present on that occasion. Observance of Vigilance Awareness Week

Vigilance Awareness Week is one of the Participative Vigilance initiatives of the Central Vigilance Commission in the fight against corruption. As per the decision of the Central Vigilance Commission, this year the Vigilance Awareness Week is being observed from 28th October 2024 to 3rd November 2024 with the theme: “Culture of Integrity for Nation's Prosperity”. About eighty cadets took the Integrity pledge on 29-10-2024. Cadets pledged to follow probity and rule of law in all walks of life. Pledge was also taken in the Central Vigilance Commission website https://pledge.cvc.nic.in/ and certificates were obtained.

Har Ghar Tiranga

The "Har Ghar Tiranga" initiative strives to ignite a deep sense of patriotism within every citizen and foster a greater understanding of the significance of our national flag. In this spirit, Ministry of Culture in collaboration with MyGov is taking initiative to spread awareness about the revered National Flag of India, our beloved Tiranga from 13-08-2024 to 15-08-2024. Thirty four cadets and the ANO unfurled the National Flag in their residences, took selfies and uploaded them on the portal of Ministry of Culture, Government of India. Certificates were also downloaded from the website.

As directed by the NCC unit, our cadets also observed Partition Horrors Remembrance Day. Posters containing the details and photos of events occurred on 14-Aug-1947 were displayed to cadets through social media. The related videos were also sent via WhatsApp and Instagram to reach the maximum number of cadets and the public. About 65 cadets and 200 people got impacted by this event.

Enrollment of cadets for the year 2024–2025 was done by Subedar Muthal Raj and Hav Bhasa from 11 (TN) BN NCC, Nagercoil on 10-09-2024. Thirty-one cadets (19 SD & 12 SW) were newly enrolled in our NCC Company. Cadets were selected after conducting physical fitness and written tests.

Career Motivation Program

Our 11 (TN) NCC battalion in association with Headquarters Tamil Nadu & Pondicherry Naval Unit organized a Career Motivation Program at Noorul Islam Centre for Higher Education, Kumaracoil on 21-10-2024 at 2:00 pm. This program was organized in view of Navy Day to create awareness about various opportunities available in the armed forces. Commander Dinesh Dasarathan, Senior Manager Engineering, Flotilla Technical Support, Headquarters Tamil Nadu & Pondicherry Naval Area, conducted the program. Thirty-seven cadets from our college participated and benefited from this program.

National Youth Festival 2025

India celebrates National Youth Day on January 12 every year, honouring Swami Vivekananda, a great philosopher and champion of youth empowerment. As a part of this, eighty seven cadets participated in ‘The Viksit Bharat Quiz Challenge’ and received certificates from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. Three cadets were shortlisted for ‘The Viksit Bharat Essay Challenge’ and submitted their essays. The Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue was organised by Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya. On 11-1-2025, seventy seven cadets witnessed the ‘Colours of Viksit Bharat’ event on screen. Sub Sivanesan from 11 (TN) BN NCC, Nagercoil and the ANO Maj S Edwin Gladson were present on that occasion.
