The rapid urban and industrial
development pose an increasing demand for land reclamation, utilization of
unstable and environmentally affected ground and safe disposal of wastes. In
order to meet these demands, Ground improvement techniques (GIT) have been
evolved as a major part of civil Engineering practices. GIT involve
modifications of mechanical, hydraulic, physical, cementing and chemical
properties of the ground.
