About The Institution of Engineering and Technology(IET)

The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) - UK, world’s one of the oldest and largest Technical Society, is a non-profit making professional body. The IET was formed in 1871 by the Institution of Electrical Engineers (IEE) and the Institution of Incorporated Engineers (IIE) and now has more than 2,50,000 members worldwide. It is the largest professional engineering society in Europe and the second largest of its type in the world. The IET is a leading authority, through its members, in the area of Electrical, Electronics, Computer Science, Information Technology and Mechanical Engineering. The IET-UK Chennai Network was formed in early 1940’s from the Indian Branch of the IET.
