Pongal Celebration – Tamil Mantram

On 13th of January 2023 the Pongal celebrations of St. Xavier’s Catholic College of Engineering organized by Tamil Mantram begun at 8.30 am. The traditional food “pongal” and “sugarcane” were distributed to the staff members and the Tamil mantram students.

On the eve of Pongal celebration, a programme was organized by tamil mantram at 2.30pm with the chief guest Dr.P.Suresh Daniel, Tamil Dept.Scott Christian College. Around 150 Students participated in Pongal day celebration.

The Kolam competition was held for the students on 12-01-2023 at 9.00 am in view of recalling Tamil heritage and culture. Also Tamil elocution and essay writing competitions were conducted on 12-01-2023. Around 50 students participated in the events.

Pongal Day Celebration – Ambedkar Nagar

The Pongal celebration begun at 2:30 p.m of 15th January 2023 with the sports for the varied categorized people of the village, which was coordinated by Tamil Mantram. The people participated in all the sports in an enthusiastic manner till 4:15 p.m.Then a tea-break was given for about 15 miniutes.

After a formal meeting was started at 4:30 p.m., we were welcomed by the representatives of Ambedkar Nagar, continued by the presidential address by Mr. Rajesh, Secretary of Ambedkar Nagar. Our correspondent Dr. M Maria William, bursar M.Francis Xavier and principal J.Maheswaran felicitated the gathering. The prizes were distributed for the sport events, and the entertainment programs were given by both our students (Tamil Mantram, NCC) and Ambedkar Nagar People. The celebrations ended up with a vote of thanks by our correspondent Dr. M Maria William.

The function was coordinated by the NCC with the overall Coordination of Tamil Mantram with the staff members – M.Alexlin Sahaya Ithal, S.Sophia, T.Berjin Magizha  and Dr. S Edwin Gladson. The participation of our students was about 30 and the people of Ambedkar Nagar was about 350.

Imperum Vizha

Imperum Vizha was coordinated by Tamil Mantram with overall Coordination of  Meendezhum Kumari Iyakkam on 26/01/2023, 27/01/2023, 28/01/2023 in St.Xavier’s Catholic College of Engineering, Chunkankadai. Imperum Vizha begun at 9:30 a.m of 26th January 2023 with Tamil Thai Vazhthu for the varied categorized people of Kanyakumari district. Besides, Mr. Vijay Vasanth M.P inaugurated food exhibition at 1.30am on 26/01/2023.

Our correspondent Dr. M Maria William presided over the function. Thousands of people participated in celebrating Imperum Vizha. The formal meeting was ended around 1.30pm  and  cultural programmes were functioned from 4.00pm to 6.30pm on each day. Hundreds of our students from Tamil Mantram, NCC participated in celebrating Imperum Vizha.

Report( 2021-2022):

On account of Pongal celebration, Tamil Mantram of the college conducted Elocution, Essay writing and Poem writing on virtual mode on 11/01/2022 and  also conducted Kolapotti on 14/01/2022 on virtual mode. The Tamil Mantram of the college celebrated Tamilar Thirunaal Pongal on 13th January 2022 at 10 am through the virtual mode. Our correspondent Rev.Dr.M.Maria William headed the celebration. Public speaker NLP master practitioner Dr.Deepa Azhageshwari was the chief guest. She spoke about how the world admires tamil culture and the relevance of Pongal festival.

The Principal felicitated on the occation. He spoke about  the significance of tamilar thirunaal. Our correspondent Rev.Dr.M.Maria William wished to everyone pongal celebration. S.Suha Fathima from I year ECE B won the first prize for elocution. She spoke speech onthat occation. Also J.Jenisha from I year ECE A  won the first prize for poem writing. She read the poem on that occation. Deepika from I year ECE A  delivered vote of thanks. The meeting ended around 4.00pm.

Tamil Mantram of our college conducted elocution and poetry writing on 17-06-2022 for People’s movement for a clean city.

Report 2020-21:

A webinar was organized by Tamil mantram on 05-11-2020  in the topic “Role of engineers in social change”.The Resourse person was writer Dr.Ahila Krishnamurthy.

Pongal celebration will be  organized by Tamil mantram on 13-01-2021 in the topic “Tamil culture before and today”.The Resourse person was Fr. Dr. Wiselin Xavier.On the eve of Pongal celebration in our college, we conducted Kolam competition  on 14th Jan 2021
