Report 2021-2022

The Youth Red Cross is the most important constituent of its mother organization, Indian Red Cross. It is a group movement organized for student in Colleges and Technical institutions.

Installation

We started the activities for the year 2021-2022 with an installation meeting on 19-10-2020 in the presence of Correspondent, Principal and Youth Red Cross Programme officer. The student office bearers are Gokul.M-Chairman, Navin Richard M -Vice chairman, Jeedith Melfhiya R B -Secretary, Dona Jobin A K -Joint secretary , Sahaya Vismi S -Treasurer and Executive Members are Sanjeev Mugunthan A V, Shibin Sam A, Second year IT, Collins vinisha A, Shanjeya Bhaarath I R, Brintha L.

Independence Day

Independence Day was celebrated in our college premises on 15th August, 2021. Our Correspondent Rev.Fr.Dr.M.Maria William hoisted the National Flag. Our Principal Dr.J.Maheswaran gave a special address on that occasion

COVID-19 Vaccination Camp

The Youth Red Cross, NSS, NCC of our institution in association with Kanyakumari government medical college hospital organised a COVID-19 vaccination camp on 31-8-2021 in our college premises. The vaccination camp was inaugurated by our correspondent Rev. Dr. M. Maria William and facilitated by our principal Dr.J Maheswaran. A total of 130 members including staff members from our institution and general public were benefited in the COVID-19 Vaccination Camp.

COVID-19 Vaccination Camp

The Youth Red Cross, NSS, NCC of our institution in association with Kanyakumari government medical college hospital organised a COVID-19 vaccination camp on 7-9-2021 in our college premises. The vaccination camp was inaugurated by our correspondent Rev. Dr. M. Maria William and facilitated by our principal Dr.J Maheswaran. A total of 96 members including students from our institution and general public were benefited in the COVID-19 Vaccination Camp.

Awareness and importance of COVID-19 vaccinating to the public during house campaign about the vaccination camp

YRC volunteers gave awareness and importance of COVID-19 vaccinating to the public house campaign about the vaccination camp held on 10-10-2021. In this campaign our YRC students volunteers of St. Xavier’s Catholic College of Engineering, explained the impact of COVID-19 and insisted the people to wear masks, clean the hands often using soap and water or sanitizer and to maintain social distancing.

More than 70 student volunteers have been participated in the awareness campaign and putting their every possible effort to spread awareness regarding the COVID-19 Pandemic to the public.

This campaign was successfully conducted to effectively reach out to a large number of people chunkankadai and thoopuvilai. The principal of the college Dr.J Maheswaran extended his support in planning this activity. The program officer of the Youth Red Cross wing Prof J Leon Bosco Raj took the responsibility of the campaign and completed in a success way.

Organ donation Awareness

In order to create awareness among the students regarding organ donation, a half day virtual webinar on” Organ donation awareness” was conducted on 18-10-2021.  Dr.Bibiana, Junior Resident, Anaesthesiology, Kanyakumari Government Medical College Hospital, Asaripallam has been consented as the resource person for the day. Ms. W P Bency Theras has welcomed the gathering with his welcome address. Followed by the welcome address Dr.Bibiana has presented his thoughts on organ donation. During his presentation he emphasized the need for organ donation and current scenario in the country related to organ failure and its shortage.  He invited student volunteers to donate their organs through government organizations now that could benefit others after their death. He also highlighted that, even after our death one could help the society by organ donation. The event came to an end by the vote of thanks by Ms. Jeedith Melfhia R B, III year EEE. 48 participants have participated in this event and have gained the overall background of organ donation.

Republic Day

Republic Day was celebrated in our college premises on 26th January, 2022. Our Correspondent Rev.Fr.Dr.M.Maria William hoisted the National Flag. Our Principal Dr.J.Maheswaran gave a special address on that occasion.
